Woburn, MA (January 5, 2004) - Intranets.com, the leading provider of online collaboration services, was honored today by the MIT Venture Mentoring Service (VMS), one of several MIT programs designed to provide business guidance to entrepreneurs, at a special networking reception for program mentors and mentees at the MIT Faculty Club. Intranets.com was presented with a special letter of appreciation for helping the volunteers and staff of the MIT VMS program work together in a new and more collaborative way.
"Over the past year, we've grown to 65 mentors supporting 70 new businesses and Intranets.com has become an integral part of our organization," said Roman M. Lubynsky, a principal of the MIT VMS. "Intranets.com provides an online meeting place where our volunteers and staff can post and share documents and ideas, coordinate activities and start discussion threads, regardless of location."
The MIT Venture Mentoring Service is a volunteer mentoring program that provides free business guidance to members of the MIT community (students, faculty, staff and alumni). The MIT VMS program helps new businesses with business modeling, financing strategies, corporate structure, customer prospecting and general networking. VMS mentors are skilled volunteers drawn from the corporate, entrepreneurial and academic communities. Intranets.com's collaboration portal brings the volunteers and staff involved with the MIT VMS together in an online forum that can be accessed at anytime from anywhere. MIT VMS will launch a second Intranets.com site for its entrepreneurs early in 2004.
"We're proud to be recognized for our contributions to the MIT Venture Mentoring Service and pleased that our product has made such an impact on their program," said Rick Faulk, CEO of Intranets.com. About the MIT Venture Mentoring Service
Developed under the auspices of the Provost's Office, VMS is one of several MIT educational programs for entrepreneurs. It is based on the belief that a fledgling business is far more likely to thrive when an idea, a good business plan and an entrepreneur are matched with proven skills and experience. Through active support of entrepreneurship at MIT, VMS believes it contributes to the education of MIT students, alumni, faculty and staff, strengthens MIT's role as a leader in innovation, and broadens MIT's base of potential financial support.
