Intranets.com Launches Database Enhancements and Four New Customizable Applications

New Applications Extend Database Power Throughout the Organization

Boston, MA (January 27, 2003) - Intranets.com (www.intranets.com), the world's largest online intranet service, today released a series of market-driven enhancements and launched four new applications based on its powerful database architecture. All enhancements, as well as the four new applications -Event Registration, Sales Forecasting, Knowledge Base, and In / Out Board -are automatically integrated into Intranets.com's online service, and are ready to be used by all customers immediately.

"Launched in September, the Database application was our most ambitious release to date," said Rick Faulk, CEO. "But we have not rested on our laurels. In keeping with our long track record, we are committed to increasing customer value with frequent, substantive releases."

The new features include many enhancements to the Database application, including:

  • Database Reports to allow users to create high-quality printouts of database views.
  • Grouping and Subtotals - Users may now organize their data in logical groups (e.g., department or state), and create subtotals within these groups.
  • Expanded Permissions - These allow the user to assign more granular access rights to individual databases.
  • Multiple Database Relations - Users may now create more complex applications by linking several databases.
  • Plus many additional features that enhance database management and formatting.

In addition to the Database application enhancements, Intranets.com launched four new database template applications.

"Fast on the heels of our September Database release, we've introduced four new applications based on that technology," said Tim Peacock, president. "The point to the Database application was to allow new applications to be rapidly created and customized, and these four exemplify that strategy."

The new database template applications provide Intranets.com's 6,000 customers with a means of storing and tracking essential information within various departments of an organization:

  • The Sales Forecasting application allows a sales department to manage revenue pipelines within a customizable database. A sales manager may review revenue forecasts by sales rep, territory, close date, opportunity size, or any other criterion to manage to quota.
  • The Event Registration application permits a marketing, training, or customer service department to manage trade show, conference, seminar, or training events and attendance.
  • The Knowledge Base application allows the essential knowledge assets of an organization to be stored and retrieved by employees or customers.
  • The In / Out Board lets employees see at a glance the availability of another employee within an organization. It displays whether an employee is out of the office, in a meeting, on vacation - or any other status a user creates.

"Thanks to the valuable feedback from our customers and beta testers, we have been able to introduce these new applications to our customers in record time," said Faulk. "This release underscores the value we provide our customers. Each month, we gain more than 1,000 new users because of the powerful functionality and economies of scale our online service offers our customers."

These new features and all four new application templates are provided to Intranets.com users at no additional charge. The cost of the complete Database Application functionality is included in the monthly subscription fee for the Intranets.com online service. Pricing starts at $49.95 per month for up to 5 users, plus $9.95 per month for each additional user. Volume discounts, non-profit pricing plans, and corporate licensing arrangements are also available. To register for a site, or to sign up for a 30-day free trial, please visit www.intranets.com.
